Alliance for Full Participation

Alliance for Full Participation State Teams are forming across the United States in support of AFP's goal to double employment for people with developmental disabilities by the year 2015.  Several of the state teams are using Employment First initiatives to promote AFP, others are incorporating the AFP mission and employment challenge as part of a Medicaid Grant project, still others are working within their APSE chapters or State DD Councils, or with other coalitions that have worked to promote employment within their states.

AFP provides state teams with resources to help:

• assess their current employment practices
• determine areas that they would like to focus on for improvement, and
• create an action plan for achieving these goals.
• learn from best practices and build a network dedicated to achieving the vision of fully integrated employment.

State Teams are composed of representatives within the developmental disabilities community and include the voices of individuals with developmental disabilities, employers, families, policy makers, providers, researchers and community builders. State Teams are a vehicle to build state-wide coalitions representing all key stakeholders that will provide input, feedback and direction to the national summit organization process. Our expectation is that state teams will bring the Summit’s action agenda back to their communities so that the vision and outcomes agreed upon in Washington can become a reality nationwide.

We are seeking leadership of state teams in the following states:  Kentucky, Massachusetts, Ohio, Wyoming, Arizona, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Please contact Karen Flippo if you have recommendations of people or organizations that may be willing to provide leadership in these states.
