REGISTRATION FOR AFP SUMMIT IS CLOSED
The AFP Summit, “Many Voices, One Vision” reached its registration cap of 2,000 on July 27, 2005. The Summit organizers are sorry that everyone will not be able to attend, but the response to this first-time event has been unprecedented. Our initial estimates were for 1200 attendees. We are not able to accommodate any more than 2000 attendees. It is our hope to host another Summit in the future, and we will plan for a larger meeting space.
On-site/walk-in registration will not be allowed at the Summit.

About the Program
"Many Voices, One Vision" will
- Bring together those who are committed to making the promises inherent in the Developmetal Disabilities Act for Americans a reality to proclaim a new strategic policy and social agenda in support of full participation, one that can be embraced by all stakeholders.
- Foster partnership and collaboration among those working to achieve full participation
- Give voice to a coalition of individuals and organizations that are committed to achieving the promise of full participation for individuals with developmental disabilities.
The central theme for the 2005 Summit is partnership and collaboration. Under this overarching theme, the content for the program
focuses on developing and nurturing leadership, fostering community membership, encouraging self determination, and building
workforce capacity. Crossing all of these tracks will be public policy initiatives, resource development and research and data
development. Attendees at the conference will include all those committed to full participation including professionals in the
field, self advocates, provides, families and public officials.
Summit 2005 Process: The 2005 Summit is designed as a ground breaking event. In order to connect the audience with the
themes and purpose of the meeting, the process of presenting information is being designed to generate discussion, debate and greater
awareness for all participants; and to create unity and forge new consensus (coalitions) among multiple groups.
Prior to the Summit, the Alliance for Full Participation will foster the creation or strengthening of groups who will mirror the
national level collaboration on a state level. These state teams will be encouraged to build partnerships to further the Alliance's
mission, provide input into Summit 2005 content; and implement the recommendations and action plans that result from the Summit 2005.
These state teams will be integrated into the program and content of the Summit 2005.
SUMMIT Logistics: The 2005 Summit will be held at the Washington Hilton, Washington DC. While the primary meeting dates of
the conference will be September 22-23, meetings of leaders from national organizations will be held before and after the conference.
AUDIENCE: Twelve hundred attendees are anticipated at the Summit. Attendees will include all those committed to full
participation including professionals in the field, self advocates, providers, families and public officials. The Summit will be
attended by the leadership of all of the national sponsoring organizations, and will receive significant press coverage in their
publications, as well as in outside press and publications.
